CINCINNATI, OHIO - APRIL 17, 2013 -The City Manager has released a memo that indicates that streetcar costs continue to rise. The Cincinnati NAACP over the last 4 years has stressed that the numbers city hall and their PAC called Citizens for Progress were understating costs by $40-$70 million. The streetcar operation puts city jobs at risk. "Those elected officials who supported the streetcar and the leadership of Citizens for Progress can not be found today with a search warrant," Christopher Smitherman, president of the Cincinnati NAACP said. . CINCINNATI, OHIO - APRIL 26, 2013 - The Cincinnati NAACP voted overwhelmingly to oppose the parking lease proposal at the general membership meeting. The parking deal will be on the November ballot and the Cincinnati NAACP will encourage its members to vote no. Ambassador Andrew Jackson Young will be the keynote speaker for the 58th Annual Freedom Fund Dinner. The only fundraiser for the branch will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Duke Energy Center. "I want to thank Chair woman Dr. Doris Frye and her co-chairs Maurine Allen and Barbara Smitherman for all of their hard work. CINCINNATI, OHIO - APRIL 18, 2013 - Only 13,616 have been counted out of a total of 19,803. the validity rate is 64% which achieved the 8,709 to place the issue on the November ballot. "We thank the team for giving up 30 days of their lives to exercise democracy. We thank all citizens who signed the petition to place this issue on the ballot. |

CINCINNATI, OHIO - APRIL 12, 2013 - City Hall can only hold parking petitions delivered 7 days ago for 10 days. This means City Hall will turn over the Parking Meter Petitions to the Board of Elections on Monday to begin the count. Our team submitted 19,803 signatures with the goal of 8500 being eligible. "Next week is very important for democracy. Our team is looking forward to hearing the results. If the needed signature count is achieved the Parking Meter issue will be on the November ballot. President Smitherman said. |
