(11/16/12): Cincinnati NAACP Extends Funds to IV Charis PDF Print E-mail

CINCINNATI, OHIO - NOVEMBER 16, 2012- The Cincinnati NAACP Executive Committee awarded $8,000 to IV Charis to fight HIV/AIDS in Cincinnati.  The resource awarded came from the Hamilton County Asset Forfeiture Fund.  HIV/AIDS and STD's are impacting African American women and men at alarming rates in Hamilton County.  Their director Mamie Harris is an institution in herself and has spent a life time fighting this epidemic.  "This is the first of many awards the Cincinnati NAACP will extend.  In the next 30 days the organization will extend $20,000 more dollars in awards to support worthy organizations that are already doing great work," Christopher Smitherman, president of the Cincinnati NAACP said.

The Cincinnati NAACP continues to be on the move and on the cutting edge of providing support to our community.  The next issue the Executive Committee and Membership have voted on to support is infant mortality.  "The next award will focus on providing financial support to an organization that is working to lower our third world country infant mortality rates in Hamilton County.  Our African American babies must be saved," Smitherman said.
