CINCINNATI, OHIO - APRIL 2, 2013-The largest city to file Chapter 9 happened yesterday. The population of Stockton is 300,000. The issue facing Stockton was it's pension. The City of Cincinnati has a population of 350,000. The issue facing the City of Cincinnati is it's pension. "If the city does not get serious about making responsible decisions we could follow Stockton. Selling assets by a city to fund it's daily operation for two years is a bad sign," Christopher Smitherman, President of the Cincinnati NAACP said. |

CINCINNATI, OHIO - MARCH 28, 2013 - Judge Robert Winkler has ruled in favor of the citizens of Cincinnati to allow parking meter issues to be placed on the ballot. This means citizens must continue to collect signatures. The deadline for turning in signatures is Tuesday, April 2, 2013. The Cincinnati NAACP office will be open until 6:00 pm for citizens to sign. CINCINNATI, OHIO - MARCH 19, 2013 - The signature collection to place the parking meter issue on the ballot continues to go well. Citizens should turn in all signatures immediately to 1703 Dale Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45237. "Our team is confident we will collect the needed signatures to place this issue on the ballot within the required time line. After 7 days of collecting 4000 signatures have been turned in," Christopher Smitherman, president of the Cincinnati NAACP said. |

CINCINNATI, OHIO - MARCH 15, 2013 - Citizens across all 52 neighborhoods collected 3,100 parking meter signatures in 4 days. This is the highest rate of collection our team has seen over 7 different petition drives. Today citizens go to court at 10:00 AM to request our right to collect signatures for 30 days to place the privitzation of city meters on the ballot. "I am confident if the judge extends the TRO on city hall's emergency to lease our meters for 30 years our team will successfully collect the needed signatures to place the issue on the November ballot," Christopher Smitherman, President of the Cincinnati NAACP said. |
