(3/18/10): It Is Decision Time for Health Care Reform PDF Print E-mail

This Saturday, the House of Representatives will vote on the future of Health Care. The NAACP has been a strong advocate for reform - unless we pass a strong bill, the color of your skin, your economic status, and where you live will continue to influence the access, quality and cost of your care.  You can do something about this right now.

It is decision time for Health Care Reform.

This Saturday, the House of Representatives will vote on the future of Health Care. The NAACP has been a strong advocate for reform - unless we pass a strong bill, the color of your skin, your economic status, and where you live will continue to influence the access, quality and cost of your care.

.

You can do something about this right now.

We are just two days away from passing historic legislation that could protect and provide all Americans with accessible, quality, and affordable health care. But we cannot do it without your help.

Call your representatives today to make sure they are working to champion quality, affordable health care for all Americans. It is an easy to call to make. Just use the toll-free number below and you will be connected to your representative's office. We've even provided a sample script to help you get started. .

SCRIPT:
Hello, my name is ________. I live in [city or town] and I am a voter in your district. I am calling you today in conjunction with the NAACP to urge you make sure that health care refom become reality this weekend.

Americans continue to suffer every day that goes by without health care reform, and communities of color bear the biggest share of the burden. We are counting on you to pass this legislation. Thank you.

The stakes could not be higher. The lack of universal health care leaves many in our community uninsured - a gap that resulted in the deaths of 880,000 African Americans over a 10-year period. Every 12 minutes across the entire United States, someone dies from the lack of health insurance.

.

Dial 1-866-783-2462 to talk to your member of Congress.

Health Care Reform is literally a matter of life and death. Real people are suffering, but we have the potential to make a change this weekend. Please make this call - now is the time to be heard.

.

Sincerely,

 Ben Jealous
