Cincinnati Public Schools responded to the Cincinnati NAACP's public information request within 24 hours which is appreciated.  CPS reported 3 months ago that minority inclusion numbers were $84,255,985.  CPS now reports their number as $72,179,194.  This is a decrease of $12,076,791.  This is an increase of $3,076,791 from the $9 million CPS originally indicated as a "clerical error."   CPS provided no supporting documentation for the Cincinnati NAACP to review on how they got to a negative $12,076,791.  Therefore, our institution can not confirm this bottom line number.  The Cincinnati NAACP believes the $9 million "clerical error" will continue to grow to $21 million.  "Cincinnati Public Schools intentionally inflated their minority inclusion numbers to the public.  The continued increase shows an intentional act by CPS to mislead the public," Christopher Smitherman, president of the Cincinnati NAACP says. The document provided to the Cincinnati NAACP is the first admission by CPS in writing that the $84,255,985 number was wrong.
.
The Cincinnati NAACP has not been able to identify 1% of total contracts awarded to African American contractors on CPS schools. "The Cincinnati NAACP will continue to audit the CPS numbers until we all agree with the bottom line. The Cincinnati NAACP thinks the numbers will drop to 9.5% before the audit is complete. This is the smoking gun," Smitherman says.
