Cincinnati NAACP Announcements Regarding: --May 4 Primary Election --Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) case --President Smitherman's May 6th Trial
May 3, 2010 . Cincinnati NAACP Announcements . - Primary Election is tomorrow Tuesday, May 4, 2010. All Cincinnati NAACP members please show up and vote. The Cincinnati NAACP Members voting is what gives our institution power and respect. The voter turn out will be low so our members participating will have a major impact in all elections. The Cincinnati NAACP has members who are Republican, Democrat, Independent and Green. Tomorrow you will pull a ballot for Republican or Democrat. The primary election decides who runs in the November election. There are hotly contested races on the ballot. The Cincinnati NAACP Membership and Executive Committee urges a yes vote on Issue 2.
. - CMHA case heard today in front of Judges Dinkelacker, Henton and Sundermann. The City of Cincinnati lost the case in 2009 and appealed to the First Appellate Court. The case was related to Council Member Berding and Members of Council stripping the City Manager of his appointment power over the CMHA Board. Attorney Finney did a great job with the case. All judges and attorneys on both sides were very professional. This is one of the last cases Dr. Karla Irvine was working on before her death. This case should be decided in the next 60 days. Again, Attorney Chris Finney did an excellent job in court today and we appreciate his leadership on this issue. We are going to request the audio and written transcript of the hearing today and post on the Cincinnati NAACP website (www.naacpcincinnati.org).
. - Remember Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 9:00 AM is the trial of Christopher Smitherman in room 240 Judge Melissa Powers Courtroom. Both Christopher Smitherman and Dock Foster were arrested for Criminal Trespass while fighting economic exclusion by Cincinnati Public Schools. Please show up and provide your support.
