"The African American community is very concerned about the violence that continues to occur at Club Ritz. The Cincinnati NAACP is compelled to weigh in on if Club Ritz should remain in our community as a viable business," Christopher Smitherman, president of the Cincinnati NAACP says.
May 20, 2010 . Cincinnati NAACP Media Release . The Cincinnati NAACP Executive Committee meeting is tonight. This is a closed meeting to the public. The Cincinnati NAACP Executive Committee will take up the issue of the closing of the night club called Club Ritz. The owner of Club Ritz, Andrew Williams and representatives from the City of Cincinnati have been invited to address the Executive Committee tonight on this issue. Recently a 22 year old young man was murdered inside the night club. The Cincinnati NAACP extends its deepest condolences to the family of Dexter Burroughs. "The African American community is very concerned about the violence that continues to occur at Club Ritz. The Cincinnati NAACP is compelled to weigh in on if Club Ritz should remain in our community as a viable business," Christopher Smitherman, president of the Cincinnati NAACP says. . Rapper T.I. Harris was at Club Ritz in 2006 which resulted in a shooting on interstate 75. Three people were shot in another altercation in the parking lot of Club Ritz. "The violence must stop. The Cincinnati NAACP Executive Committee and membership will begin an investigation which will end with a vote by the Cincinnati NAACP membership on the question of if Club Ritz should remain open," Smitherman says. |
