(5/26/10): Ohio Ethics Commission Decision Confirms again Councilman Bortz’s Conflict of Interest |

A 5/25/10 Cincinnati Enquirer Article states: "The Ohio Ethics Commission made it clear today that City Councilman Chris Bortz should not vote on the proposed Cincinnati streetcar or be involved with the $128 million project in any way because of a conflict of interest stemming from his family’s considerable property interests on and near the proposed route." . Since 2008, the Cincinnati NAACP has repeatedly raised the issue that Council Member Chris Bortz has major conflicts of interests with his position on Cincinnati City Council (click READ MORE for details). Council Member Bortz not only has a conflict of interest with the streetcar but with a basket of votes he has taken over the years that directly benefit Towne Properties. Towne Properties is owned by Mr. Bortz's father and uncle where Mr. Bortz serves as legal counsel for the family business. It is too late for Bortz to undo his voting record. The only question for Bortz today is will he maintain his arrogance about the law and continue to defy the Ohio Ethic Commission lawyers?
