Cincinnati Public Schools fail to graduate 20% of seniors annually.  This means 1 out of every 5 seniors does not graduate from Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS).   It is shocking that CPS and Cincinnati Federated Teachers (CFT) cannot agree on radical reforms that improve the overall education of the 35,000 CPS children.  The no child left behind theory is blown when the Cincinnati NAACP finds out that 20% of CPS seniors are not graduating.  "How can CPS ask the community to support a school levy when they are failing in their core mission of educating our children?" Christopher Smitherman, President of the Cincinnati NAACP
.
Cincinnati Public Schools and CFT are in contract negotiations.  However, no African American institutions are participating in the negotiations nor are CPS parents represented in the room.  CFT should allow the administration to place our best teachers in the worst performing schools.  It is shocking the number of school teachers who do not live in the City of Cincinnati or the State of Ohio but teach in Cincinnati Public Schools.  "It is beyond understanding how a Cincinnati Public School teacher sends their children to private schools.  If CPS teachers were required to have their children educated in an under performing school the overall quality of education would accelerate," Smitherman says.
