CINCINNATI, OHIO - FEBRUARY 21, 2011 -  Cincinnati City Council
preparing to vote this week to strip retirees of benefits. The meeting
will be held tomorrow at 1:00 PM at City Hall. "Council will break
their promise to retirees which will begin a political revolution of
epic proportion. Council continues to lie about the facts of how we
arrived at this financial disaster," Christopher Smitherman, President
of the Cincinnati NAACP said.

Council is moving to cut the death benefits of current retirees. Many
of those who signed the contract with the city are no longer
insurable. "The retiree can not turn back the clock and buy life
insurance or buy a product at a reasonable price today. Council is
making a mean-spirited recommendation. All retirees should be in
chambers tomorrow and face the tragic news. City Council members have
been a poor steward of your retirement money," Smitherman says.
