CINCINNATI, OHIO - MARCH 2, 2011 - City Council voted today to strip
retirees of benefits.  "This is the first step of many.  However,
Council failed to terminate any fund advisors who lost hundreds of
millions of dollars," Christopher Smitherman, president of the
Cincinnati NAACP said.
.
Council did not vote to deposit the $20 million owed to the retirement
system from Anthem.  Berding, Ghiz, Murray, Qualls, Quinlivan, and
Young all voted in the affirmative.  "City Council voted to issue $60
million in bonds to build a streetcar.  They issued no bonds to
support the workers who gave their lives for the city," Smitherman
said.
