CINCINNATI, OHIO - MARCH 25, 2011 - Mayor Mallory, City Council, and
the City Manager are still planning to build the streetcar. The
Governor has cut off funding and the State Legislator has introduced
legislation to defend the Cincinnati streetcar. City Hall is now
announcing a scaled down version of the streetcar. "Six miles of
track for $200 million is already scaled down," Christopher
Smitherman, president of the Cincinnati NAACP said.
.
The Cincinnati NAACP encourages all citizens to sign the streetcar
petition. "The fight is not over to stop the streetcar. City hall
will put Cincinnati into bankruptcy to get this streetcar. The entire
project lacks basic common sense," Smitherman said.
