CINCINNATI, OHIO - MARCH 30, 2011 - The Hunter Williams Judicial case
is being sent back to Judge Dlott.  The United Sates Court of Appeals
for the Sixth Circuit refused to hear the William's appeal.  This
means the Hamilton County Board of Elections must begin to count votes
per the initial order by Judge Dlott.  This decision has all but
closed the door for any further appeal to the Supreme Court of the
United States of America
.
.
The Cincinnati NAACP remains focused on the issue of votes being
counted in Woodlawn, Lincoln Heights, Silverton, and other communities
within Hamilton County.  These voters showed up at the right poll, but
were directed to the wrong table.  This is poll worker error.  "The
Cincinnati NAACP commends Attorney Jennifer Branch on her legal work
on behalf of the Hunter Campaign.  I am positive that the majority of
work Attorney Branch has done has been pro bono.  It is her commitment
to justice that will ultimately end up with votes counted and the 14th
Amendment
of the United States of America upheld.  She is a great
lawyer and a great officer of the court," Christopher Smitherman,
president of the Cincinnati NAACP says.
.
The Cincinnati NAACP would like to thank its executive committee and
membership for taking the time to attend the Hamilton County Board of
Election
hearings.  Their presence at the hearing was significant.
The Cincinnati NAACP would also like to thank Dr. Jerome Reid, Ishton
Morton, Charles Harris, Ohio State President Sybil McNabb, and the
National Office of the NAACP for obtaining Attorney Sandy Spater out
of Columbus, Ohio to file an Amicus brief in this case.  Attorney
Spater did an excellent job with the Amicus brief.  The Cincinnati
NAACP recognizes all of the volunteers who stood for the right of
votes being counted and specifically Bishop Bobby Hilton for his
efforts in fighting for justice.  "Politics is a team sport and there
is not enough thanks to go around but at the end of the day every vote
will count.  The Cincinnati NAACP extends a special thanks to Tracie
Hunter for preserving," Smitherman said.
