CINCINNATI, OHIO - JANUARY 6, 2012 - The Cincinnati NAACP encourages construction sites and businesses to close for the MLK Holiday.  The Cincinnati NAACP is encouraged that Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) and CPS construction sites and our Casino partner will be closed for the MLK Holiday.  The Martin Luther King Federal Holiday is still the least observed Federal Holiday by businesses in the United States of America.  "If our region is going to be a beacon for the country it is important that we all recognize the MLK Holiday.  This is the only African American person who has a Federal Holiday.  Dr. Martin Luther King gave his life to raise the consciousness of this country around humanity.  He deserves one day of honor and reflection for his great sacrifice," Christopher Smitherman, president of the Cincinnati NAACP said.
