CINCINNATI, OHIO - AUGUST 16, 2012 - Ohio Secretary of State has announced uniform early voting hours for the State of Ohio. The Hamilton County Board of Elections has no power to change the decision of the Ohio Secretary of State. The hours to early vote are listed below starting on October 2, 2012: . 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM for first 3 weeks 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM the last 2 weeks no weekends . The Cincinnati NAACP will continue to update addresses and turn in voter registration cards until the final cut off date of October 9, 2012 at 5:00 PM. Each member should be sure that family members have updated their new addresses with the Board of Elections. "The area that concerns the Cincinnati NAACP the most are citizens who have moved and their addresses do not match the Board of Elections. Our experience is 10% of the votes cast will be provisional votes not because the citizen is not registered. However, their address does not match the Board of Elections. If 50,000 people vote and 5,000 votes are thrown out because addresses do not match it is our fault and we must take personal responsibility for that failure," Christopher Smitherman, president of the Cincinnati NAACP said. |
