The Cincinnati NAACP will roll out an anti-trash fee petition for citizens to sign at the Black Family Reunion on Saturday, August 21, 2010.  The Mayor, City Manager, and City Council are attempting to balance the 2011 $60 million deficit by assessing a trash fee to all citizens who live in the City of Cincinnati.  City Hall has mismanaged tax payer money over the last 10 years and now City Hall wants tax payers to bail them out.

The Cincinnati NAACP is very aware that the trash fee will only increase over time.  "City Hall plans to attach the trash fee to citizen's water bill.  If you do not pay the trash fee City Hall will shut off your water. This is how they plan to gain compliance from citizens to pay the trash fee bill," says Christopher Smitherman, president of the Cincinnati NAACP.
The Cincinnati NAACP has purchased a booth at the Black Family Reunion for Saturday, August 21, 2010 and Sunday, August 22, 2010.  All registered voters who live in the City of Cincinnati are encouraged to attend the Black Family Reunion and sign the petition.  "The Cincinnati NAACP is gearing up for a budget battle at City Hall in September when City Council returns from summer break.  I am very confident that the Cincinnati NAACP will collect the needed signatures to place the issue on the ballot in 2011," Smitherman says.
