CINCINNATI, OHIO - JANUARY 4, 2012 - Cincinnati City Council agreed with the County to raise MSD rates by 8%.  These actions make it difficult for citizens to keep their homes.  "It is simple.  If you can not pay your utilities then you cannot afford the house you are living in," Christopher Smitherman, president of the Cincinnati NAACP said.

It is very important for Cincinnati NAACP members to understand that voting for one party is not good politics.  The only two members of Council that said NO to any rate increases were Council Members Winburn (R) and Smitherman (I).
